Sharie and I would like to welcome you to events associated with the L6 Cattle Ranch and the surrounding Corona area. This Blog is being maintained primarily by myself (Bill), my wife (Sharie) and our daughter (Jessica). Our ranch is located in beautiful rolling grassland hills 10 miles northeast of Corona off highway 54. Our daughter Jessica is enrolled in the Corona School System where she enjoys the small town atmosphere where most of the school administration is actively involved in the ranching industry.
Our Mission
Our mission here at the L6 Cattle Ranch is to provide the healthiest and best tasting grass-fed beef for health minded families and individuals. We believe that in order to accomplish this, we must provide the least stressful environment to our cattle. We treat our cattle like they are part of our family. They are never abused and their health is our number #1 priority.
Our beef cattle are antibiotic, hormone, and other synthetic additive free.
Our Family
My wife and I are currently bringing up our last chicken in the roost. Our older children Tony, Patrice, and Joel are all embarked on great careers. Tony is a Project Manager dealing with Automation Control related Projects in Phoenix, AZ. Joel is working as a Controls Engineer for a large Engineering firm in Beaumont, TX. Patrice is a regional manager for Enterprise Car Rental in Phoenix, AZ.
Jessica is nothing but an animal lover. She loves any and all animals and currently maintains a nice set of reptiles including an Iguana, Gecko, salamander, Corn Snake, Tree Frogs, 2 pair of breeding Cockateil Birds, Fish, and other reptiles. This is her side hobby as her primary interest is Horses. She is currently showing her Bay Horse named Prince. She is currently taking lessons in English Dressage, but also participates in Western horsemanship. Her goal is to become a Veterinarian. She will be a great one as she cares so much about all of God's living creatures.
Sharie is currently selling real-estate in the Corona and Belen area of New Mexico. She was also a Realtor in Arizona prior to us relocating here to New Mexico. Sharie also helps in all the other ranch tasks including but not limited to feeding, round-ups, and branding. Of course she is also the head chef here.
Bill is currently the Manager of the ranch. He is semi-retired as a Controls Engineer/Software Engineer. At times he still executes small projects for clients, but his interest is home at the ranch with his family, horses, cattle, and clean Corona air.
Our Pastures
Our ranch consists of 4 large pastures that are rotated every 28 days during the spring/summer/fall months to reduce stress on grass growth and to provide insect control. Our pastures are rolling hills with some Cedar trees for shelter. The pastures are native grass-land consisting primarily of Blue Grama, Buffalo Grass, Wheat Grass, Black Grama, and Side-Oats Grama. We rely on Mother Nature to provide the rainfall during the grass growing season here, which is April through September.
Our Beef Product
When we purchased this ranch in 2006 we also purchased the livestock that was currently on the ranch, which consisted of mixed breed cattle and some Angus. Since then we have been replacing the livestock herd with pure-bred Angus Cows and have completed purchase and replacement to all pure-bred Angus bulls for Cow breeding. We also purchased a 1/2 Angus & 1/2 Jersey Bull for breeding our Angus Heifers to minimize first-calf birthing problems. The calves born of this Sire are sold as 3/4 Angus & 1/4 Jersey breed or held back for Beef production.
We will also be offering select pure-bred Angus Heifer and Steer calves for 4-H project showing beginning in the fall of 2008.
Happy writing.
